WHAT A GREAT time we had at KYPCA’s Summer Heat! The group from the Bluegrass Region included Dave & Zach Baugh, Jeff Stetler and Larry Dukes. Dave & Zach both drove Dave’s new Yellow 911 Carrara and Zach was the fastest driver in the Green (beginner) group. Dave drove in the Yellow (intermediate) group.
This was Jeff’s first HPDE and he had a ball! He had a permanent grin on his face all weekend. Jeff was definitely a quick learner, even though he was in the Geen (beginner) group, he was allowed to go out solo in the last session on Sunday. Good driver.
This was my (Larry) fifth HPDE. I was placed in the Blue (advanced) group. They had an instructor go out with me in the first session to make sure I was comfortable with really experienced drivers in fast cars and with passing allowed anywhere on the course, including corners!
Even though my 2001 Boxster S has less horsepower than almost of the cars on the track, I knew the line and didn’t hold anyone up. Just about everyone passed me, but I still had a ball getting everything my car had. Having just celebrated my 75th birthday, I’m just glad to be out here!!
