Seventy-two members of the Bluegrass Region PCA gathered at the Cherry Blossom Golf Clubhouse on Saturday January 27th for our annual Holiday Party and Business Meeting. As always, the Cherry Blossom Golf Club’s staff did a great job of serving cocktails then setting out a delicious buffet with Roast Beef and Chicken Cordon Bleu as the entrees.
Jamie Donaldson had us gather for a group picture before dinner, then President Jamie Diehl went over a review of club activities in 2023. Jamie thanked everyone for attending the dinner and announced that the dinner was provided as a part of the 20th Anniversary of the Bluegrass Region. He also thanked Phil Doty and Ken Hold who are listed on page one of the Charter establishing BGS.
Jamie Diehl, 2023 President, introduced himself and the 2023 Board of Directors and Chairs. Vice-President Larry McVay, Past-President Ken Hold, Treasurer Ron Barbato, Secretary Mark Whelan, Directors-at-large: Jamie Donaldson, Bill Larkin, Tom Caywood and Mike Scanlon.
Chairs include Activities Chair Mike Love, Concours Chair Phil Doty, Membership Chair David Boyd, Safety Chair John Schmidt, Tech Chair David Patrick, Track Chair Jamie Diehl, Newsletter Chair Steve Krolak, Webmaster and Historian Julie Woods and Drive Chair & Social Media Chair Larry Dukes.
Jamie also discussed the Keeneland Concours and the UK Children’s Hospital is the beneficiary. Jamie announced that donations to the hospital will likely eclipse $1 million this year from the Concours.
Jamie also announced that registration for the Porsche Parade will open January 31st.
The fun part of the evening is the distribution of door prizes. The club provides funds for these, along with contributions from our sponsors. Jamie thanked our sponsors: Porsche of the Village, Bluegrass Motors, OCDetailing, Abracadabra Graphics, Taziki’s Mediterranean Café, Foreign Affairs and Stuttgart Motors.
Lots of really neat Porsche-related prizes were drawn and everyone received a prize. The grand prize for the evening was a weekend at the “Summer Blast” High Performance Driver Education (HPDE) and “Fall Fastival” events at Putnam Park Race Course in June and September. Mike Scanlon was the winner of entry to the “Summer Blast” and Larry Dukes won the entry to “Fall Fastival”. It was a great kick-off for 2024.
Join us for “First Saturday Cars & Coffee” at the Bluegrass Stockyards on the First Saturday of each month, ‘Bluegrass Region Cars & Coffee’ at Ramsey’s on Harrodsburg Road on the Second Saturday of each month and our ‘Monthly Social’ (dinner) on the third Sunday of each month. We will begin having Driving Tours in March.. Details will be announced on our webpage, Facebook page and in an email blast to members. Happy New Year!
