04/05/24 – Drive Towards a Cure

NCM Motorsports Park

Six Bluegrass Region members enjoyed driving NCM Motorsports Park Road Course on Friday, April 5th.  Mike Love, David Patrick, Mike Scanlon, Bill Larkin, Brian Young and Larry Dukes made the trip.

We drove up Thursday via US-68.   What a nice alternative route (versus the freeway) from Lexington to Bowling  Green. Try it if  you have an extra hour.  Five of us (Mike Scanlon came up later) visited the Corvette Museum Thursday afternoon then had dinner together Thursday night. Friday morning was frosty, but everyone thawed out enough to make the 8:30 meeting at the track Friday morning.  Most of us did eight or nine 4-lap stents on the 3.2 mile track.  It was a great time!

The only down side was on the way home, Mike Love (along with two other cars) hit a piece of a trucks suspension in the road and damaged a wheel and tire.  His car had to be towed to Bluegrass Motorsports.  While unfortunate, it could have been a lot worse.

If you have ever wanted to drive your Porsche on a world-class road course with no pressure, “Drive Towards A Cure” is an economical way to do it and to support a good cause.
